Boy Scouts Fight Back Against the City of Brotherly Love

The loud, raucous voices of the homosexual left are sounding off about a clash between the Boy Scouts and the city of Philadelphia. The scouts have maintained a headquarters office there for 80 years and have been paying the city $1 a year in rent. But the city recently gave them until Saturday to begin paying $200 thousand annually in fair market rent. The change comes because the city of brotherly love is upset with a scout policy that bars openly homosexual persons from participating.

The scout chapter adopted language which bars "unlawful discrimination" but the city is not satisfied.

Now the scouts have filed suit in federal court charging that Philadelphia is discriminating against the scouts because similar agreements with other groups, like the baptists and the catholics remain in place.

The homosexuals are using the same tactics used by atheistic and pagan religions to remove the Bible and prayer from schools and to eliminate Christmas displays in public locations. It is the further secularization of our culture and demonstrates the rank intolerance of these organizations.

I fear the scouts will loose this one but will pray otherwise. The scouts are to be applauded for taking Biblical stand against the sin of homosexuality. Wouldn't it be great if other organizations were willing to stand for truth!

Porn Writer for U.S. Senate

Al Franken is a relatively well known writer with several books listed at Amazon. He is also running for the United States Senate out of Minnesota. The Republican party there, led by a group of conservative women, is calling on Franken to apologize for racy, graphic sexual writings that appeared in Playboy magazine in 2000. We'll not detail the writings here but the story is covered by The Hill newspaper, an influential Washington D.C. paper. Franken has declined to apologize or to even address the writings in any significant way.

This suggests that morality is quickly subsiding from federal politics. Once was the time when seedy, trashy talk was looked down upon. Today is it considered the norm. We hope the good people of Minnesota will have the courage to say "no" to such a candidate.

The New Sin Tax: Porn

Governments have collected so-called sin taxes for years. A sin tax is taxation levied on the sale of items generally considered to be sinful. For example, taxes on beer, wine and hard liquor or the taxes on the sale of tobacco products. Casino's pay significant taxes too which are another form of sin tax. Now comes word that California is thinking about taxing the pornography industry. A California lawmaker suggests taxing porn at 25% in an effort to balance the dwindling state tax receipts. KUTV.com suggest the cost would be passed along to consumers who do not seem to be affected by economic downturns.

It may be a great idea, especially if some of the proceeds can help deal with the rising rate of porno addiction in this country. If viewers of porn are willing to pay extra to get their jollies then let them. We can use the money.

Some Hope for California?

There may be a tiny bit of hope for the liberal people of California. A new poll shows that Californians disagree with the recent court ruling that legalized same-sex marriages in that western state. The poll, conducted by the Los Angeles Times and KTLA show a majority of the people oppose the court's ruling and would support a constitutional amendment to reverse the court.

Observers say however that any such campaign  would likely face strong opposition and the margins of support could dwindle away.
